Author: Khaled Hosseini
Bloomsbury, 2004 (2003)
This famous novel about a young, wealthy Afghani boy and his servant friend will be remembered as one of the great novels of the decade. After using it in class (English B-course and Swedish A-course) many times, I have still not tired of it. The way Hosseini plaits the story of Amir's and Hassan's lives, their past, and their futures, gets me everytime. Some things will truly be too late: words you should have said, actions you should have taken. But, it is never to late to seek atonement though self-reflection and change.
