I remember not being impressed by Swarup's last novel, Q&A. But, since that novel is now a smash hit on the silver screen (with the new, cooler, name Slumdog Millionaire), I decided to give his latest creation a chance. Well, I shouldn't have bothered. It's clumsily structured and plods on and on and on, with no end in sight. So, what I've learnt is this: maybe shitty novels can have a second life as brilliant movies, since the opposite is so often true.
